Structure Firefighting

Roles and Responsibilities

As an Athelstone firefighter you may be required to combat fire within a structure. This poses an array of different hazards compared to that of a wildfire.

Members of Athelstone CFS undertake courses in both 'Breathing Apparatus' and 'Compartment Firefighting' so that we can effectively and safely combat a structure fire should the need arise.

This training combined with a high standard of personal protective clothing allows our members the possibility of either an external or internal attack plus the added strategy of offensive or defensive firefighting.
