The South Australian
Country Fire Service (SACFS) is a Registered Training Organisation
(RTO). This allows CFS volunteers to receive training at the highest
of standards whilst obtaining certain competencies at a nationally
accredited level. A majority of the courses undertaken by volunteers
adhere to the PUA00 Public Safety Training Package.
Minimum
Standard
As a firefighter
you will be required to undertake training that will equip you with
the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to undertake these
tasks. The minimum level of training required for a member of the
SACFS is Basic Firefighting 1 (BFF1).
However as a member
of Athelstone you may wish to undertake specialist training allowing
you to respond to incidents involving breathing apparatus, Road
Crash Rescue and Hazardous Materials. If the response is Enhanced
Mutual Aid (EMA) or a response in conjunction with Metropolitan
Fire Service (MFS), then some of the these competencies listed below
are required as a minimum.
