Athelstone CFS has been operational since 1961, serving the local area. The Brigade's primary response area is the Athelstone, Rostrevor and Woodforde areas of the North Eastern foothills of Adelaide, South Australia. The primary response area is bordered by Silkes, Stradbroke, Glen Stuart and Morialta Roads. This area covers the Black Hill Conservation Park as well a number of residential and other structures.
Athelstone CFS is a Brigade of the South Australian Country Fire Service, a community based fire and emergency service comprised of 15,000 volunteers across the State. For more information about the CFS, visit www.cfs.sa.gov.au. Within the CFS structure, Athelstone belongs to the East Torrens Group which is part of Region 1. As Athelstone CFS is located on the urban fringe, Athelstone CFS provides support under mutual aid arrangements to the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (for more information, visit www.mfs.sa.gov.au).
