Athelstone CFS
belongs to the East Torrens Group which is part of Region 1. We
have also been a state-support brigade since 1987, which means
we can be called to any emergency in the state. These calls have
taken members to places such as Kangaroo Island, Coffin Bay, Roxby
Downs and many others.
Members from the
brigade have also been called to NSW, Victoria and to Indonesia.
The brigades immediate
area is Athelstone / Rostrevor / Woodforde, it is bordered by
Silkes, Stradbroke, Glen Stuart and Morialta Roads. This area
covers Black Hill Conservation Park. Because this area also covers
some of the metropolitan area, Athelstone responds to metro calls
in co-operation with the MFS (Metropolitan Fire Service).
The brigade
attends a variety of calls including:
- Grass fires,
wildfires and scrubfires,
- Hazardous material
spills,
- Structure fires,
- Road accidents,
- Floods,
- Other emergencies,
- and also provides
aerial support to water bombers
